Much has been documented and written about our early ancestors. In fact without much trouble we can document (on the work of others who have written books) back to the year 1650. Our ancestors came from Lancashire, England.   Though I have much information on these early generations of Marshalls I would invite you to contact me to share such  data as might be appropriate for your line. For the purpose of this very brief sketch I will concentrate on my husband's line beginning about 1790.

Thomas Marshall, b. ca 1790 married Nancy Robbins May 12, 1815 in Stokes county, NC. To this couple were born
nine children. Thomas and Nancy soon moved their family away from the more populated area to Fall Branch, Washington county, TN. Here they rasied their family on the farm and there they remained until their deaths, respectively in 1853 and 1834.

One of his sons was Thomas Robbins Marshall, b. Nov 19, 1821. Thomas married twice, first to Hannah Jane Shaw
on Oct 8, 1846. Thomas and Hannah became the parents of eight children before her early death in 1862. Thomas remarried shortly there after to Nancy Ford. Thomas and Nancy were the parents of four children. Thomas moved his family to Benton county, Arkansas where he became a drug store owner. The land that he owned was later incorporated and became known as the town of Garfield.

One of Thomas and Hannah's children was Marcus Tillius Cicero Marshall. He was born March 7, 1851 in Gordon
county, GA, which puts the time of Thomas's arrival in Benton county sometime after 1850. Marcus met and married a lady from an old time Benton county family, Cyrena Josephine Ruddick. They were married Feb 27, 1870 in Sugar Creek, Benton county, AR. Marcus must have taken after the trade of his father, perhaps even continuing on in the very same store for he, too, owned and operated a store, though by this time it had expanded or at least became known as a "general store". By the early 1900's Marcus and Cyrena moved out of the store business and into the lumber business as he owned and operated a sawmill.

To thier home were born 12 children, 11 of whom lived past infancy. Their eighth child, Ulysses Sidney Marshall,
born Feb. 24, 1884 is the next in the direct line to my husband. U.S. or "Sid" as he was called grew up and
married local girl, Amanda Earle Walden. The young couple decided to venture out on their own and moved to
Tecamuh, NE where they set up a farm. Here they were blessed with three lovely girls. One of their little babies
passed away at the tender age of five. One of their daughters, Rena Blythe, is my husband's mother! Sid and
"Earle" resided here until the end of their days.

As you can see, this is but the tiniest of sketches and incorporates only our direct line of a few generations.
PLEASE contact me if you think your might be related, or KNOW you are related. I would enjoy sharing
information with you.
